Can you guess the names and faces? Look for Fannie Lou Hamer, Amzie Moore, Aaron Henry, Megar Evers -- all tried to learn what had happened to the Chicago school youngster who was murdered in the Mississippi Delta in August of 1955. Also look for juke joints, the Leflore County Courthouse, the Tallahatchie River and other important sites, including the grocery store in Money, Miss., where Emmett whistled at a store clerk. • LOL....!!! What brazen hypocrisy.... If a white person even tries to visit any of those places today, the blacks will kill him!

  • @Ishhkabibble Where would you come up with such an idea? I have traveled for many years in Mississippi, visiting many sites where horribe incidences took place. I have always been treated kindly by African Americans still living there. Sounds like you need to get out more often and get some experience. Maybe then, you would not say such things.

  • A comment on our times: I had dinner recently with some folks who were arguing about whether to use "he" or "s/he"--I asked "do you know the name Emmett Till?" --all I got was a blank look of ignorance. These were people decent people my age a little younger--what is being taught in our schools?

  • Quite amazing, isn't is?

  • every August 28th 'rest eternal grant him let light perpetual shine upon him" Now Joe Pullen Jo-Etha Collier

Your work has touched people in the UK keep it up!

  • Thanks, so much.

  • Wonderfully crafted. Thank you. As a white mom of 3 sons, I don't want my kids to ever forget what happened to Emmett Till. I didn't even learn about him myself until this year, which I find appalling.

  • THE IGNORANCE OF SOME PEOPLE TO EVEN MAKE THE COMMENT THAT IF A WHITE PERSON WERE TO VISIT THESE SITES WOULD BE KILLED...THAT IS A DAMN SHAME TO EVEN PART YOUR LIPS AND LET THOSE WORDS OUT

  • emmett till had some beautiful eyes

  • shows how awesome the south is, 2 white guys torture and murder a fucking 14 year old who didnt know how fucked up the south really was? and the jury find these faggots innocent? i say anyone who voted innocent on that jury and anyone else still alive today involved with the murder (like carolyn bryant) should be tortured for about 4 hours also, so maybe they can see what it was like for emmett

  • i was not born in emmett's era so forgive me.i know mississipi was seething with racial hatred, probably more than other places.i take it the north was not segregated at all? it seems to me from what i hear that they had much more freedom and liberty in places outside the south.when i was a wee bit younger i thought all of america was racist at that time from what i saw on tv

  • I will remember this, for the rest of my life, there were and is people like this in the world, I wonder how the People in Mississippi went along with this. I guess because it was back then and Blacks just did not deal with this. I would not be alive today if I was living back then, I would protest unit someone done something to the men that done this to Emmitt, or they would have kill me too!

  • We have come a long way, but we have a long way to go.

Hate will be with us for a long time to come.

    What a shame.

Some people just can't see beyond their past.
