Bike path from Assen to Oosterwolde in the Netherlands 1

You can travel any distance you like here on paths segregated from traffic. At the beginning the road is on the other side of the canal from the access road which after a short distance turns into a cycle path. This afternoon I cycled the 25 km from Assen to Oosterwolde (part of which is shown in this video) and came back by a different route.

This route follows a main road, but you never have to ride on the road. This is a wonderful place to cycle.

The first comment says "wish all cities were like this.: Hello, this is mostly a rural path along a canal. The canal also greatly reduces the number of crossing conflicts.

The USA is mostly not flat, reclaimed lane and so has relatively fiew opportunities like this, but we do have the C&O canal path along the Potomac River and some in California's Central Valley. Most rural long0distance paths in the uSA are in disused railway corridors.

@jsallen1946 It's flat, but it is not reclaimed land. There are opportunities to create good quality cycle facilities everywhere. They are taken more often in the Netherlands than elsewhere, so you find such things as this over the entire country.

A little cold and dreary looking. I would have liked to see some leaves on the trees. Still, I would like to visit Assen sometime soon.
