WENDY MELVOIN played all the guitar on this track....read the actual albums track credit as well, as the actual Apollonia 6 Vinyl which credits Wendy as the player. If u bother to look up the Purple Rain tour from 1985..,you can hear Wendy sound like Santana as she plays Purple Rains intro..

One of my all time faves by P although it's on an A6 album. I used to wear this out when I was in high school. P is killin' it during his guitar solo with one of his best Santana impressions...

@BLKBAR740 No Carlos is not, stop making things up. His style has many influences, and he's far more Hendrix in his lead work than any other influence. His early rhythm style is from the guitarist from James Brown's band. You'll also hear Joni Mitchell on the acoustic. Santana is an influence, esp. in the 80's on stage, but I wouldn't go much farther than that.
