Got a lot on my plate. As you can see this project is in its infancy. Doesn't need funding, but rather time put aside to get this bio-diesel project in order. Have plenty of the WVO(waste vegetable oil) gathered, but no means to correctly burn it in the car yet.

The only reason people get the older 1978 300D cars is that the injector pump can handle the thick fluid when pumping it. The newer VW's can not pump, or will pump it but will fail in the long term. The injection pumps are way to small, can't handle the WVO.

  • Could this be the true motivation for the cash for clunkers program? Destroy the old bullet proof simple cars that can run on anything and have people only driving complicated computer controlled and finely tuned new cars that cant be modified to run on used vegie oil or wood gas. Computer controlled cars can easily be disable by an EMP

    Electro Magnetic Pulse.

These devices are ineffective with the old points ignition systems. Easier Government / FEMA control when the

    s_ _t hits the fan.

  • Yes real cars don't have spark plugs. ;-)

  • sounds like a bad rod bearing, and its valves are getting slapped the shit out of by the cam but that is no big . did you do a compression test? for 1500 it looks to be a good project car. cool shiza man .

  • These older Mercedes 'POP' a lot for some reason. Also its in a driveway and he noise is bouncing around the houses on either side. So its the microphone enhancing that sound.

This thing starts on a dime in the cold. So if there was something wrong with the engine it wouldn't start that easily.

  • Awesome condition. By reputation, Mercedes and VWs from the 70s and 80s are the best to run on WVO.

  • DIESEL ARE NOT CLUNKERS THEY CAN GET 40plus MPG its your own damn fault your diesel is running poor if its getting 2mph. NOT THE GOVERNMENTS PROBLEM

  • @ChrisPCrunchy Yup, need to watch out FEMA, Thats for sure!!! Nice Video you got here by the way!!! I just got my 85 benz and I will made the same thing you are doing right now!!!

  • how much does the wvo kit cost ?

  • "obama can keep his 5000$" ? His 5000$ or your your tax money ? stupid cfc

  • your car is very good

  • I think these veggie conversions are pretty cool. But I really wish people would choose something other than classy old Mercedes to make into a project car. Why experiment with and alter such a nice old luxury car? There are plenty of diesels out there to play with that aren't rare classic cars.

Again-I do think the technology is cool- I just cringe at how many of these Mercedes have been converted with cheap kits and messed up what was once a mint 30 year old car.

  • i luv looking at old merc engines, i mean i have one, and i'm still online looking at yours, btw instead of working on your car, watch topgear s1e1, watch the last 20 mins of it. and add hho to air intake
