Black Howler Monkeys singing from the tree tops, species: Alouatta caraya, at the Santa Ana Zoo - santaanazoo.org

Note that we visted the zoo this weekend 2008-05-17 and the howler monkeys are gone. There are Capuchin monkeys in this enclosure now. The Malaysian Gibbons however were swinging around their cages and singing beautiful songs in the cool of the morning. I'll upload video of them soon as I can.

  • A lot of noise but not dangerous

  • these are definitely howler monkeys -southern black howlers- the female is brown/gold in color and the male is larger and all black. the female has a more pig like grunt and the male has more of a roar, 100% black howler monkeys. ;)

  • Procure no You Tube "CAMPANHA BUGIO" - é muito bom!

  • you sure they weren't siamangs?

  • oh bugiozada espetacular!

  • i went and saw howler monkeys at the melbourne zoo in australia today and they sounded nothjing like that! they were whooping and screeming, not roaring or anything...

  • A. caraya => not black Howler monkeys
