Resident in Parry Sound-Muskoka for more than 10 years, Sara is a Muskokan by heritage. She is a descendent of the Paget family of Huntsville, whose prominence there spans well over 100 years. Sara now makes her home near the shores of Lake Rosseau in the town of Minett. She has been an active party worker with the NDP since she moved there from Brampton and she is currently the vice-president of the riding association. Sara is also a board member and volunteer for the Muskoka Arts and Crafts association, and is an active volunteer for Fair Vote Canada.
Her special interests include:
• Deterioration of health care in Ontario. A major local issue is the privatization of hospital laboratories, a plan that seems to have no purpose other than to satisfy Liberal ideology.
• Organized daycare and early childhood education. Sara's understanding of the need was enhanced by home schooling her two daughters and by her experience as a daycare operator.
• Environmentally sustainable energy. Born in Pickering in 1969, Sara was raised in the shadow of Ontario's burgeoning nuclear power industry which may explain her deep concern over the nagging problem of storage and disposal of nuclear waste.
• Growing Poverty Gap. Having raised her children, primarily as a single mother, within the context of Muskoka's service oriented, seasonal economy, Sara is acutely aware of the immediate need for a $10 minimum wage.
Sara was educated as a politician—earning her degree in Political Science at the University of Toronto in 1994. She enjoys a growing reputation as an artist and as co-owner of the Juddhaven Studio and Gallery with her partner Richard Sawyer.
It is unbelievable to know that sometimes government does not get. Economic should depend on people and no people depend on economy. Our health care system and energy sector must be rely on this simple fact and preservation of environment. check my channel and videos and ask yourself: What kind of world do you want?
