if i buy one of these will it fix a problem with my gear in the trans. like right now if i'm going 50 it says 37 and 40 is 22. so would it be able to fix it or would it just calibrate to what problem i currently have.

It seems likely. Our electric speedos don't care about inconsistency in gears, tire sizes, etc. It simply counts how many pulses happen over the course of 2 miles and goes from there. If yours is off, this should (and that is the operative term here) get you squared away. Hope this helps!

Older electronic speedometers didn't have a button on the dial. Many years ago they were made with a calibration terminal on the back of the gauge that you attached a momentary switch to in order to calibrate the gauge. All of the modern electric speedos will use this method. The instructions for the older style units can be downloaded on our site (it doesn't seem to want to let me post a direct link)
