**After this video, I'm taking a multi-month long break from railfanning.**
*also the last scene with the **malfunctioning lights**, its the camera not the crossing*

Colorado Springs is a great place to catch 2 of our elusive locals.

We have a local served by the UP that runs 5 days a week always early in the morning, and always on a weekday. It also is one of the only locals in Colorado to run a caboose, and not any caboose, a restored, still in Rio Grande lettered, untagged caboose. I was fortunate to see it run caboose first on the mainline outside the Springs. We also have the 4 times weekly BNSF local that also serves industries on the southern part of the Springs. Usually it will have EMD power and today we got 2 SD40-2's. Plenty of variety for the EMD fan.

More info in the video. Enjoy!

  • Little problem with the crossing lights!

  • @R1Wagon No. For some reason, the camcorder couldn't keep up with the LED flasing lights.

  • Man I can't believe how in perfect condition that DRG&W caboose is not a scratch of rust or graffiti on it can't ask it to be more perfect. Nice catches Carlos enjoy your break

  • @UPDetector Indeed, and thanks! I think it was about time I did anyway.

  • thats not good!it used to been in rio grande paint, but the caboose was a horrible mess, covered in grafitti

  • Oh the jealousy seeing that DRGW caboose with the local switchers. BNSF ended that operation out here a year ago. Great video!

  • Great video! Neat spot!

  • My Grammy lives there :DD

  • If BNSF left most of the train in Big lift where it belongs, they could probably get away with only needing one locomotive like they used too.

  • Very nice video. I will wait to see more coming.

    Regards Markus
