Students in Andrew's Leap at Carnegie Mellon show off a final project in Intelligent Robotics. The signalling robot has three positions to specify Red Light, Yellow Light, and Green Light, just as in the children's game. Random time intervals and random choice of colors are even used to model children trying to trick the participants. The Chiara robot participating in the game uses its vision to search for blue lines, finds the two different slopes, and interprets them as the proper action to take.
