Ekaterinburg is a mobile-mentay (mobile documentary) about the Heartbeat Festival in the Russian city of Ekaterinburg in the Ural. The festival of mobile creativity is a community endeavor organized by the people of Ekaterinburg for their community. Max Schleser participated in the festival and tells a personal behind the scenes like story about the festival through the lens of a mobile phone. Due to a series of unexpected developments the short documentary discovers the hidden Ekaterinburg. The documentary features an interview with the internationally renown artist Vitaly Volovich who preserves the image of the city that is disappearing. The city undergoes a vast economic development process and not all citizens of Ekaterinburg follow the neo-commercialization, but rather look for an alternative lifestyle. The Heartbeat festival as much as the short documentary itself explore the socialbility of mobile media through a mode of community practice. The soundtrack includes Simon Longo's [Dithernoise] "Harmony Groove", Irina Gerulaitis "May Raven" and EK Playaz "Glamour". For more info email: info@mobile-mentary.co.uk.
