The first ever nontraditional version of the Star Spangled Banner, performed by Jose Feliciano before game 5 of the 1968 World Series at "stunned" Tiger Stadium in Detroit (Oct 7, 1968). By the way, those two teams were loaded of stars...

  • @lugnuts6 CBC has the only surviving tapes of the first two games in K-Scope.

  • What is the opening theme? Used in NFL Films Super Bowl III film too. De Wolfe library?

  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 1:51, It Was NBC Sports' 1968 World Series - Game 5: St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Detroit Tigers Video Open From Late Monday Afternoon, October 7, 1968.

  • While this anthem was resoundly critized at the time, today it would be considered one of the better renditions. Today's singers pay little attention to any sort of dignity to the situation of the anthem when it comes to presenting themselves and their voice.

  • "The Following Program Has Been Brought To You In Living Color. Only on NBC."

The 1968 World Series that was telecast LIVE on NBC and in color!

  • @roseandbench And the Tigers should have won it in '06! They swept the Cardinals in 3 straight games in interleague that season.... The long 6 day layoff between the ALCS and the start of the series cost the Tigers the series!

  • today Jose would be asked to sing it over and over again in different stadiums. Love the Chico and the Man theme to boot.

  • Cardinals should have won the series. Blew it just like they did in 1985 and 1987. Though 1987 was certainly robbed from them in many respects.

  • The only acceptable reinterpretation of the National Anthem...ever!!

  • Outstanding rendition of the National Anthem. I remember hearing it on the radio while cutting class.
