"Girls! Nick! Time to get up!" Mrs. Carter yelled from downstairs. She walked into Mileys room and gently woke her. "Miley, sweetie, time to wake up. Big day today."
"OK Mom, Im up," Miley said groggily.
Up in her bedroom, Selena walked over to her sister and gently shook her. "Demi gotta get up," she sweetly said.
"Kay," Demi mumbled back.
Selena then opened the door and yelled at Nick who was sleeping down the hall. "NICK! UP!"
Nick woke up jostled and scrambled out of bed. He was in so much of a hurry that he tripped on his rug as he got up.
Selena saw him lying on the floor from her doorway. "Nick, youre such a dork, she murmured to herself."
At breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Carter were scrambling around the kitchen while Miley, Nick, Selena, and Demi were having breakfast.
"Mom, are you OK?" Miley asked.
"Yes. Just a little stressed. Your father and I are leaving today, and I just want to make sure you're gonna be OK," Mrs. Carter explained as she was crossing things of a list.
"Oh dont worry. You guys leave us alone all the time. We'll be fine," Miley stated.
"Yes, but we've never left you without a babysitter and for a week," Mrs. Carter replied.
"Oh come on Mom, Were 14, almost 15. We can take care of ourselves. Can't you have just a little faith in us?" Miley complained.
"Youre right Miley, you guys are almost 15. And I know you can take care of yourselves," Mrs. Carter said proudly.
"Thank-you," Miley answered.
"Susan, are you ready?" Mr. Carter asked rushing out the door.
"Hold on Michael," Mrs. Carter replied.
"OK. Ill be waiting in the car," he stated.
"OK. Everyone listen up. We're leaving today and there's no babysitter. No one is in charge; you are all old enough to take care of yourselves. I've left some money in an envelope for you. Its taped to the fridge and is only to be used for food, groceries, or other emergencies. Got it?" She explained in a stern voice.
"Got it." Miley reassured.
"Oh, and we both have our cells so you can call at anytime. And well be checking in on you periodically, so try not to get into too much mischief," Mrs. Carter insisted.
"OK, Miley dragged on. We're fine, and well be fine, so stop worrying."
"OK. Im sorry. I love you." Mrs. Carter told Miley as she kissed her daughters forehead.
"Love you too," Miley expressed by hugging her mom.
"Bye Nick, I love you," Mrs. Carter stated as she hugged and kissed him. "Bye Sel, Demi. I love you," she mentioned as she hugged and kissed them both.
"Bye. Have a good trip," Miley announced standing in the doorway. "See you in a week," she said as she waved goodbye until she couldnt see them anymore. "Uhgh. I could not wait for them to leave," Miley mumbled to herself as she walked back to the table.
"OK, its Friday and theyre gone for a week..." Miley deviously pronounced.
"So?!" Nick responded with attitude.
"So its time to party! Today during lunch, Im inviting everyone to this house for a party. Oh, Nick, make sure you get Frankie and his brothers to come." Miley insisted.
"What?! Who? NO!" Nick demanded.
"Fine. I will," Miley retorted a little frustrated.
"Miley, this isnt a smart idea..." Selena hinted.
"Oh shut up Selena. What do you know?" Miley smirked.
"A lot more than you do," Selena talked back.
"Excuse me?" Miley inserted.
"Nothing," Selena quietly muttered.
"Good. So it's settled. Party here tonight," Miley proudly said as she sat back down to finish her breakfast.
