Beautiful and rare film images of Atlantic City, NJ taken in 1932 by my Grandfather on his 16MM camera. Set to ragtime, of course.

  • We are looking for footage of the Atlantic City Boardwalk between Steel Pier and Central Pier from 1960 to 1990. Thanks.

  • This is from 1932 or so...

  • This is wonderful. Looks like a cold day in AC! There are plenty of landmarks in this film that still stand today. Where was the Camel neon sign? Any more details as to the date of this film? ACmuseum dot org should get a copy of this!

  • Was filmed by my Grandfather in about 1932. I think it compiles a couple of different trips there but one of them was Easter.

  • I was born in Atlantic City in 1953. The boardwalk looked exactly like it does in this film,, and remained so, until the Casino deal was made. Once the deal was made, speculators and real estate holders ran wild, and made unimaginable sums of money. The beach houses that were all along the shoreline from Pacific Ave to the boardwalk were some of the most beautiful in the US. The inlet was full of summer homes, there were hunting lodges were harrah;s is now. The hotels were the worlds finest.

  • Very nice film... Priceless!

    Thanks for posting it.

  • The intersection shown a couple times, is it Saint James Place?

  • Love the video!

  • This is in outstanding condition--the picture is so clear! Thanks for sharing!

  • Beautiful... I recognize a lot of locations... When the women were wearing flowers, it was probably Easter then... Thank you for sharing!

  • Look at the man that walks onto the screen at around 2:57. He looks like he could have been on the HBO series as a gangster.

  • Really clear images, thanks for sharing

  • one thing i like about Atlantic City is that all the Casinos are affordable plus they have all the Casinos in pretty much one centralized location with the exception of the Borgata and the others

  • Fantastic video!

  • @kalifson There was so much natural beauty, the best Art Deco architecture, and island living. The beach and boardwalk are beautiful in winter, there used to be apartment buildings on the boardwalk. I'm glad I grew up with it all, kind of took for granted it would always be there. I was wrong.
