Unbelievable that this has surfaced. Thank you so much for sharing. How an event as important as Spike Island wasn't officially taped is beyond me, which makes the historical importance of these videos so great.

I was in the pit crew, although not shown on this clip. When you are looking at a big crowd from the front, the impression is totally different. The thing I remember most is towards the end of the gig when the dust was really bad. I was looking at a mass of stoned faces with dark rings around their mouths where the dust had stuck to the moisture. It was freaky, like something from a zombie movie.

If you watch all these videos of the crowd that ePaxB has uploaded, you can see the pills kicking in the longer the day goes on.

About a year ago i'm pretty sure a trailer appeared on youtube claiming to be the whole spike island gig then disapeared after about a day, please tell me someone else seen it.

I still can't quite get why none of the event was filmed.... serious bloody organisational issues there by Gareth Evans, but the BBC or Granada must have picked something up?

Put Widnes at the centre of the world for one windy but happy day...it was awesome but then Widnes went and spoiled things when only 80 odd ppl turned up to see The Prodigy AND The Orb at the rugby ground haha they cancelled the gig on us and I`ve never forgiven the folks of Widnes for that

I remember saying to my mate in 1990 - "Wouldn;t it be funny if someone in years to come documented the rave scene and we'd be there going - oh my god I was there" - the internet has done this and it gives me immense pleasure to see this shit - well done matey - we were a lucky, lucky generation.
