Sri lankan Government is meting all health needs of about 600 expectant mothers who had fled from the grip of the terrorists..
They were provided necessary treatment after being admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital. A group is still receiving treatment at this Hospital. Gynaecologist Dr. Meera Mohideen of the Vavuniya Hospital said all necessary treatment will be provided to these expectant mothers until and after deliveries. He said that the expectant mothers are treated well. They are also provided with the necessary food.

These mothers told ITN that they are glad the Government was meting all required facilities. They did not receive any nutritional food in un-cleared areas. But now they are receiving nutritional food. The required medical facilities are being extended. It is fortunate that they managed to seek security with the Government troops before the date of delivery. In addition to nutritional food, necessary vitamins are also being supplied. They extended their gratitude to the President and the Government for the treatment meted out to them.
