White Faced Hornets

Nest built on the bottom of this deck chair. Had to stain deck, so I moved this nest late at night, when they were sleeping. These are Very Beneficial Insects, they don't bother people. I harvested the nest after freezing temperatures.

im suprised you can get that close to them. ive had two nests of those near my house. one in a tree down the street which just walking past i got stung and one on our house that my father and i promptly disposed of at night. both caused problems but this year they made a nest somewhere nearby and were feeding from our hummingbird feeders but didnt cause any problems. just fought with the yellow jackets. im not sure which is worse those or the wasps building a nest in the shed. . . . O_o
