Guy is way off about the writing of the song..My neighbor knew Ervin T Rouse personally and he learned the tune directly from him in 1938..He had just wrote it...

Pete knew Chubby Wise and has a video of Chubby stating he wrote the music and Ervin wrote the words.

Very true, tune's been played to death. In my opinion tho its life is weaker than need be - the lyrics that have been created so far dont have much plop.

Another thing, which you boys illustrate, its not so important the exact form or the terrific cascade of notes out of the instruments, but more important is to make it sound good and have fun. Players enjoy it, audience will too

just learning OBS and wasnt sure what i would do to put my own spin on it. Now, i dont think I will. This song has been 'junked' up enough over the years that my version would be most refreshing if I play it true to the way it was written! (wait til i tell my husband he has to sing!) Thanks guys for an awsome rendition. you've inspired me :)
