chubby wise lied about writing this song for 50 years. all one needs to do is check the U.S. pat. office. erivin t rouse copyrighted the music and words long before wise claimed he helped write it in a hotel room with rouse. that fat fuck made a living for decades off another persons work.

@Madbeachbum Chubby was probably the most influential bluegrass fiddler and pretty much set the stage for all bluegrass fiddlers who followed. But... he didn't write OBS. This was a melodie by Ervin Rouse formerly called Florida Blues. At most, Chubby talked Ervin into speeding it up and embellishing it.

Pete knew Chubby Wise and has a video of Chubby stating he wrote the music and Ervin wrote the words.
