Just like I said, the present government is really trying, but the system is so inherently corrupt that it will be improbable to even alleviate corruption down to a small scale. I can't blame the Lebanese, Chinese and other expatriates for anything; the Liberian policymakers must always be blamed for everything.
@LabeerehnGbanna I am Puerto Rican but I lived in Liberia for two years, and in those two I saw a bit of progress; however, there is still corruption at all levels (from top to bottom) and in reference to the Lebanese, they are making a killing in Liberia.
@lmedina4731 Most of the policymakers are so corrupt that they take bribes from foreigner businessmen to give them competitive advantage over local businesspeople. At one point in time, rice was imported to Liberia by only one person - a Lebanese. And rice is the staple food of Liberia. That also raises the question: why don't they grow enough rice at home instead of importing? The answer is simple: they don't have much to gain from it. However, the present government has improved things a bit.
