First is a Sharp machine, I got it mainly cause the style was interesting, the box-square shape it had and the speaker design were interesting. THe Panasonic RQ-331 I was very glad to find. Later after the video was made I replaced the belt in it and it works very well. It is AC bias, while the Sharp is a background noisey DC bias. And man... the house of the estate sale I got these at was so cool. I wish I had filmed it. The outside didn't look that great, but when I walked in and saw the neat looks, the wood grain walls, the basement, workshop room, etc, that house is awesome! I also when in there had that feeling inside that this one would have something. And then I walk in the office room and there sits the Panasonic!

  • I can't help but notice that the cassette you used for the Sharp said something "Baptist Church" on it. Was the tape originally a church service, or something like that?

  • It was an old sermon tape recorded in 1983.

  • Really? Where did you find it? Did you pick it up from a church? If I were to find a tape like that, I'd probably keep the recording, but that's just me.

  • It was with a lot others and came from an inside-house garage sale.

  • i detect this is a DC bias unit i heare the nosy ss in her singing on play back but those units were made this way to prevet priacy .

  • To prevent piracy??! I wouldn't think so, I have some AC bias boomboxes with amazing quality as well as the reel-to-reel decks.

  • Go to Tools in WMM and select Tools then OPTIONS then Advanced and change the aspect ration to 16:9. When you save to video, it should show that it is saving in 16:9.
