  • Absolutely wonderful. It's so sad to think how virtually no one came to his first funeral. And now 160 years later, he can finally have a memorial service he fully deserves, filled with people who adore his art. In the back of my mind, I hope that somewhere out there, he's saying "thank you."

  • I think it is wonderful that Edgar Allen Poe has finally had a proper funeral.

  • Edgar Allan Poe was one of America's and the world's great literary geniuses. I think the fact that seven people turned up at his funeral says a lot about not only the way people's perceptions control their actions. No matter how much people then and now loved his work, it just wasn't very popular to attend the funeral of a guy who was as deeply disturbed as Poe's actions led everyone to believe. Rest in peace, My hero.

  • 1:46--When the bagpipes started playing "Amazing Grace", and as I was thinking of our beloved Edgar and all the struggles he went through and how he never really lived to see the masses fully appreciate his great genius, I actually got tears in my eyes. He was a wonderful, wonderful writer. Rest in peace, dear, dear Edgar, and know you are much loved. You are my favorite writer and I will cherish your inspiration always.

  • This is very touching. Poe is part of the fabric of our country and one of its greatest writers.

It is worth noting that Poe wrote some brilliant, comedic pieces as well as the horror he is so widely known for. IMO it was the loss of his love that caused his physical and emotional downward spiral, yet this melancholy had provided fuel for his most famous works.

May he finally RIP. He should remain forever amongst the pantheon of the greatest writers of the Western World.

  • Wow, better later than not at all! He should have had a proper funeral then but nobody realized how talented he was, now they do! So sad, to a point!
