On Sunday, Sept. 18th, at the 2005 NAS Oceana Air Show located in Virginia Beach, VA. Presented by VF-101 "Grim Reapers" was the F-14 Tomcat tactical flight demonstration, ONE LAST TIME IN HISTORY!!

Recommended that if you really like this video and would like to get a copy of it on DVD, go to hartaviationvideo.com to get an even better video quality on DVD. That site is managed by Paul Hart. You can find this airshow DVD by clicking on the link for the NAS Oceana Airshow 2005 on his site. Excellent Airshow videos. I even bought myself a copy even though I got one of my own, but his videos are a real killer!!!

  • @YZach F-14D V.S F/A-18F its 50/50 Why? I talked to the pilots who flew the Tomcat and they told me that the F-14 is able to defeat any fighter in the world but the big problem to it's performance is structural fatigue - because it's old.

  • @YZach Problems you refer to are problems of the earlier F-14 variants, and they are related to its original engines - Pratt & Whitney TF30, they were ideal for high speeds but not for extreme combat maneuvers. These problems were solved with famous A+ upgrade and GE F110-GE-400 engines. These engines solved the reliability problems and provided nearly 30% more thrust, achieving better than a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio. The later B and D upgrade drastically increased the F-14's performance.

  • @YZach This is not entirely true, F-14 has always been one of the best naval aircraft that the U.S. Navy ever used. Remember that the Grumman Corporation faced substantial contractual penalties if the jet it produced faild to meet the Navy's specifications. The Navy itself has admitted back in 1974. by ADM James L. Holloway III - Chief of Naval Operations, that the F-14 is the best aircraft for any job that needs to be done, and it performs magnificently.

  • @duck8gwr Because the F-14 was never able to do what Grumman said it would do when they won the bid (turning capability, engine performance, etc), and it was far too expensive to maintain. The F-18, unfortunately, outperformed the F-14 in almost every category deemed important to the Navy in the 21st century. So the F-18 got the upgrade (E, F models) and the F-14 got the axe.

  • The best looking plane ever <3

  • Im sorry but I just think its ugly unless the wings are swept back and its going fast.

  • i was there that day...on the last pass i sheaded a tear. from when i was very young to this day the f14 is still my favorite....BADDEST multi-role fighter ever made. i was soo upset when they retired it

  • I was there that day!!!! too bad they can't use them for 40 more years

  • Spectacular takeoff and demo! Really miss the F-14- retired too early in my opinion. Love the Super Hornet, but we needed updated/new F-14's too.

  • i'll be looking to see this airplane in the aviation museum. F-14 tomcat was probably my favorite of all time.one of the best airplanes in history.
