A little video I put together paying homage to Chester Lanzo's wonderful model airplane design; the Lanzo Bomber.

This model has been a favorite of modelers everywhere since first flown in 1938. The original model used a 96 inch wing, but today versions of the model fly in many smaller sizes also. Some are powered by ignition engines (as the originals), glow engines (both 2 and 4 stroke), and many others are electric powered.
The original Lanzo Bomber was a free-flight model, but most today are flown with radio control.
The model shown in the live shots is my own 80 inch Bomber. Hope you get a chuckle out of the windy landing toward the end!

The song is "I've heard that song before", performed by Harry James and sung by Hellen Forest. I hope you enjoy it!

  • I'm a Chet Lanzo fan, and I appreciate seeing this tribute to the man's continuing legacy of model air[plane designs still going strong in today's modern world. I had to pause and stare a while at the man's face in appreciating for the years of pleasure as owner of a Lanzo Bomber (Leisure 72" 05 electric)

  • Sometimes I wonder why I spend the lonely night... dreaming of a song. The melody haunts my reverie.. of paradise when FF flew...

    >Chet Lanzo, Dick Korda... Carl Goldberg... Designers, builders... Free flight flyers. I began RC in the mid seventies and remember free-flighters referred to as a vanishing breed as RC builders are thought of today in this modern ARF/RTF disposable era.

  • These are great old timers and the music is great,I have a lanzo Record Breaker that was my very first vintage .

  • Great video, LOVE the music you chose...old timers are fun!!

  • My dad worked with Chester and was also one of his flying buddies. I went to some of the meets as a little kid in Ohio watching Chester and Dick Korda's flying... Great video!

  • Witness the power of dihedral.

  • Beautiful; that thing just wants to fly!

  • Brilliant

  • When i build my oldtimers, i do them as they would be done in olden days - gas engines mostly antiques, tissue covering, no composites...
