Just a few words about my last day as an ALT.

My contract ends on July 25th, and I still have a little work to do at school, like cleaning my desk and preparing for the new ALT, but my job as an ALT with the JET Programme is basically finished.

I arrived in Shimane on July 28th, 2004, and now, 5 years later, I leave knowing that I've had not only a great personal experience, but that I affected the lives of many of my students over the years, and made many good friends along the way.

Friday was a really fun day, and I hope to share some of it with you in future vlogs.

Thanks for watching.

-Jason

PS - the bummer at the end of the night was me dropping my camera as I fumbled for some change at a vending machine on my way to my car. Camera is all fine, except the play button won't work, so I can't review any photos, do any in-camera editing, and I have to reformat the memory card to delete what vids/pics are in there each time I upload to my computer.
Ah well, at least I'm mostly done with picture taking for now. I'll have to try and get the camera fixed when I get back to the States.

  • I don't quite understand why some people would want to get rid of the JET Programme and how are they using you for criticism? I understand that a lot of people consider JET's to be overpaid and basically on a paid vacation but that's not the case with everyone as you have shown us over and over.

Do you think they will shut down the JET programme or do you think its going to stay alive for years to come?

It would have been hard not to cry when she came forward.

    ganbatte sempai!

  • Jason, I just read your farewell speech. You can clearly see that you put a lot of effort, time and feeling into it. It was really touching to read and I hope your message reached everyone.

Good luck for what is coming next in this new chapter of your life and thankyou for all the help you've given me related to JET and for all the informative and majorly helpful vlogs you've posted.

I'll always look forward to your vlogs (and I hope your camera can get fixed asap)

    Take care.
