@margfoxon your actually wrong my mother was punished for speaking Maori at school in the 50's and so to was my grandmother punished in the 20's. i

Good interview but sorry she chose to promote the myth that Maori was forbidden to be spoken 50 years ago. This myth is nothing more than that - back in the 1880s schools yes, but not 50 years ago.

Lovely interview; -- the Maori side of things has always been so important to Kiri and she always promised to be very much involved. in balancing things; ... bless her.

I love to see her around her "students", she looks very proud when he speaks maori, something she couldn't do at his age and, my personal opinion, something she regrets not knowing.
