It does have a Latin origin, but unlike the languages of Western Europe, Romanian was influenced by too many other languages (Thracian, Turkish, Cyrilic, Greek, German,...). Such an essential thing makes this language...atypical. Thus, it cannot be classified in the same category as the languages we were talking about.
