thanks i also use a then select combine but now i know i can use x as a hot key.

Yes you're right. It also bears mentioning that if when you get hit in the middle of a reload animation, it won't stop the reload. So if you're about to get hit and you can't stop it, sometimes you can at least get the reload started so that the enemy can cancel it for you.
