great version!! :)
-
great interpretation, the first cantata of Bach I listened at 16 years of age and inmediately fell in love with it, a version of Karl Richter. I agree with Bach's music been a Synthesis of Westwern
Civilization as klibanov wrote.

like if leaving cert sent you here!
-
@TamiRoques Fromt he Muse Erato? that seems considerably more likely than from Jesus.
-
@HConstantine I am not talking about Christianity as a religion, I am talking about Jesus Himself. I can't think where Bach could have got his inspiration anywhere else but in Jesus Christ. The very words of this cantata remark His love for Christ.
We hasten with weak, yet eager steps,
O Jesus, o Master, to You for help.
You faithfully seek the ill and erring.
Ah, hear, how we
lift up our voices to beg for help!
Let Your gracious countenance be joyful to us! .
-
@TamiRoques Christianity doesn't deserve this piece.
-
@kilbanov maybe you should get to know Jesus then...Bach only spoke of his experience with Jesus....and indeed, knowing Jesus, I can say that indeed Bach has the gift of putting to music our innermost feelings and our praise to the Son of God, who takes all the sin out of the world!

the first time I heard this I fell in love with it right on the spot, and though i'm not christian i felt such a deep warm feeling for JESUS, this piece resumes for its own the beauty and the greatness of western civilization (i'm not a westerner), thank u for sharing this
