GARETH FORSYTH
Well now let me see....I started to pick up my brothers guitar that he got for Christmas after I saw our friend Peter Chescoe pick up this beautiful looking thing that was called a Les Paul..I was 11 at the time..I remember well because it was the first time that I inhaled a bucket pipe that primarily consisted of a bucket (obviously) strong Marijuana and one set of lungs..the guitar was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen (as you can imagine)I remeber him playing some Jimi Hendrix and a twelve bar blues riff, which I watched very intensely..that evening after a lot of laughing and much merriment I strolled back to my house and tried to play what I had seen, and, much to my surprise I could do it so there it was...that was what I was going to be...a bum! So I did away with school to get in as many practise hours as I could get in one day without smashing up my bedroom in frustration! I moved with my family to Ireland where we bought an old corn mill which was where I did most of my studying..It had quite a lot of land which was nice to walk around and have a dip in the river on hot days..I think we still tried our best to swim in it even when it was flooded much to my parents dissaproval as we quite literally nearly drowned every time.It was around this time that I started getting out of hard rock music and got into more mellow and not to mention off the wall stuff including all the early Pink Floyd albums,Piper at the Gates of Dawn,Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun and my favourite..Meddle.It was a time of taking hallucenagenic mushrooms whilst riding horses around old castles that had fallen from the bitter weather that attacked them day and night for years and years..it was in one word fantastic. After that episode it was off to college..I was sixteen, guitar in hand spliff in the other and very enthusiastic for the journey ahead..since then I have played with some great musicians which have taught me more than I could of ever dreamed,I'll always look at music as a gift that was given to me and I've tried and done my best to get the most out of it..I suppose its a sort of therapy really.thanks for reading.By the way I now record all my material up in Cork with a chap called Barra Vernon (The Cave,Studio's)you can contact him through my page or www.myspace.com/thecaverecording.com if interested in booking. Thanks. Gareth Forsyth
