The Slovakian Lukáš Timulak (Snina,1979) has danced with Nederlands Dans Theater since 2000 and has now also budded from the dance groups experimental garden as a choreographer. Last season, Nederlands Dans Theater for the first time included one of his creations in the regular programme: Oneness for Nederlands Dans Theater II. This debut was well received. In Oneness, Timulak aptly and originally enhanced his kinetic language with technical effects, letting the dancers breathing control the intensity of the light. Offspring is his second choreography for the junior dancers. This piece is close to the young choreographers heart: his approaching fatherhood (expected near the premiere date) is his great source of inspiration. Timulak translates this unique and emotional experience into a choreography for nine dancers (five women and four men) to music that ranges from experimental (the German composer Hauschka) to classical (Bazzini). For the visual execution Timulak collaborates with his established artistic partner Peter Bilak (graphic designer).
