  • hmmm, where would you get the foam latex? that seems like such a hard process! also how much is given in a batch?

  • @PixterPro All the info is written in the description section of this video.

  • Can i use a microwave, if so, will it cure quiker or will it just burn?

  • @Essencegrrl Don't use a microwave. You will burn the foam. If you have to make a batch and can't build an oven you can use your own home oven. Just make sure you clean it afterwards.

  • can we do that without an oven? just waiting untill its ready?

  • @joankamberaj No, you need to cook the latex so the water and ammonia evaporate properly and the latex cures.

  • what do you think of SMOOTH- ON silicon, dragon skin, i have a studio apartment so latex is out of the question, thanks

  • If you want to avoid air bubbles, you can get what's called a "vacuum chamber". It takes them all out. Also, I like make an entry hole in my molds and tape the two halves together first, and then pour the rubber or latex into the hole.

  • @NeoDarkArckan I'm a bit concerned that the metal will tear the polyurethane and mess up the details in my mold. Forgot to specify that too, that's my biggest concern.

  • @NeoDarkArckan I forgot to specify that the silicon and polyurethane are opposite I don't know how the metal will release. I use the Smooth-On universal mold release.

  • Nice, I've been wondering about how to make stop-motion puppets with a cast. I like platinum silicon rubber, but I make the mold out of polyurethane rubber and I'm a bit concerned that the armature will not release as easily as the silicon will especially since you're working in opposites. Also, I like to use Brand X Liquid Latex for casting since it's shrinkage rate is minimal but it takes longer to cure. It's also made for body painting so it's not a compound you can just pour it.
