"Of Time and the City" took me back to when I called Liverpool my second home, had a residence at the Canal Turn of Aintree, walked down the Melling Road ... stretching to today with my university pension sitting in the Liva Building at the docks of the Mersey. This was a wonderful piece of theater. I cannot resist the lovliness of the line "the British genius for the dismal." Davies honesty so contrasts with the la-di-dah of those empty made-for-American Briitsh films starring Hugh Grant.

I agree. I was there to see this film as well. Second time Ive met him in Cambridge, he came to our uni when the Picturehouse did a retrospective of his work.
Genius. I pray he gets to make more films.
