When a beloved pet dies, it can be a very harrowing experience. Like losing a close human member of the family, grief and a sense of emptyness can be very hard to come to terms with. Whilst pets can be replaced where humans cannot, the new pet will never be the same as the old, who will always hold a special place in your heart.
This video is a tribute to Charlie, a cheeky little chap who we loved dearly. It briefly tells of his life (and death), and the making of it has helped me come to terms with his premature departure. It has also been the hardest "piece to camera" that I have ever done.

  • Beautiful eulogy for Charlie, as he was one to remember! My family loves the Charlie videos. Thank you, Frank, for posting those! Please tell me, I am Canadian and do not know; what does the term 'chopsey' mean?

  • "chopsy" is a slang term we would use to describe someone who talks incessantly!

  • My Nain (Grandma) had a fantastic Budgie, she taught him to greet the right people (which he did until he got old and started muddling words up) and to sing in Welsh, he also used to go "here comes the galloping major, trot trot trot" - they are mega clever when you teach them to talk from babies! Very sad when they pass but it's nice to know they had a loving life. My Nain passed away last year so I can't see us having a Budgie like we had again! But keep on the Budgie chatter!

  • Thanks Stenaphee, I had to smile at your budgie singing in welsh! Budgies are great ones for varying words and phrases in sentances, which can be very funny at times. I don't think your bird was in any way muddled.

  • reast in peice charlie

i cried when i whatched this

he will be with you forever

  • Ahhhh, thanks.

  • Loved charlie ever since i saw the first vid years ago,

a clever little fella he was.

  • im with you dude!

  • Oh man, you made me cry.....

  • He was a very lucky budgie :)

  • I love the Charlie videos - I'm a (former) budgie-owner, myself, and was delighted to hear those familiar budgie tones in an English (as opposed to N. American, our Fluffy's paternus lingua) accent!! :) I'm very sorry for your loss of sweet Charlie, BTW. :( At least his legacy will live on - and internationally, even! - via YouTube. :)

  • Im so sorry to hear about Charlie! Losing pets is terrible :( I remember when my budgie, beauty died. I was away at my friends house and when I got home my mum told me he had died, i cried for hours and hours! I miss him :(

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are your family and it is so painful, but just know that animals have souls and souls never die. Just the physical body. I know it doesn't make it hurt any less, but please rest assured that he is still here with ya
