Miss Lori's family were pulled over near their home on Saturday for making an alleged illegal left turn. They immediately pulled to the curb when they saw the flashing lights behind them. However, what surprised them the most was not being pulled over, but that when the police officer got out if the car to approach their minivan she was holding a lit cigarette in her left hand near her hip. The smoke filtered maliciously into the car. A real problem since Miss Lori is allergic to cigarette smoke and her kids have trouble with the exposure as well. When the officer returned to her squad car Miss Lori's children wondered aloud why a police officer on a traffic stop would risk her life for a cigarette. Because even though Miss Lori's children are only 12, 9 and 7 even they know traffic stops can be dangerous and it would be safer to have two hands free than one. Just another reminder that smoking can kill you.
