Just got a $75 ticket in NYC. These things are illegal as they come. It was almost set up. If you look at the photo it just caught my vehicle doing 20miles an hour in the rain directly behind the white line. The yellow was lit for less than 2-3 seconds, it was raining! My car is a 1978 diesel it doesn't accelerate or do i want to slam on the brakes.

You have the right to destroy these cameras since they are illegal and a fscking SCAM!

I think i went threw one of these today, it wont bother me, i always knew Id make the news one day .... gonna zip over to Taylor Rental and rent me one of them big gas powered concrete/steel saws and work my magic ridding our streets of these anti-constitution invasions of privacy... not to mention our tax dollars pays for the streets and we dont want your god damn government paws on them.

@mortician54 The cameras or lights do not cause accidents. Irresponsible and distracted drivers cause accidents. Following too closely( the NASCAR syndrome as I call it), Talking or texting on cell, jamming to radio or ipod, talking to passengers, surfing internet on phone or computer. These things cause accidents, not the lights or the cameras.

@jaelamadawala I was personally in a wreck where the guy hit us because we were stopped at a red light that just changed to green. It was backed up and he was using _two_ cell phones. I was riding in the front of the van and got to see it lift off the ground for a couple seconds on the front wheels up close and personal. The light shouldn't have been there. Steep hill+highway+no intersection! Ute Pass in Colorado - near Santa's workshop. Light was likely a political favor.

@mugtar100 A head-on collusion at 35MPH is like hitting a underpass support at 70MPH. Even hitting a tree at 40MPH can easily kill you, especially with no seat belt.

@Cougman1978 Meh, sling shots and bags of ball bearings if you want to give them a challenge. Although they're making the cameras have Plexiglas or the equivalent around them... Probably why! In many cities and states, they have sling shot control laws like they do for handguns. Hilarious - what will they outlaw next? Big sticks? Rocks? (heh)

@jwhiteheadcc Google Smith System . Learn about following distances, eye lead times, stale green lights, etc. I can usually predict when a light is going to change just by getting the big picture as I drive. The five keys of the Smith System:

Aim high in steering

Get the big picture

Keep your eyes moving

Leave yourself an out

Make sure they see you

Practice these and you will be a safer driver.

@mortician54 When in downtown, I use crosswalk timers to tell when it's about to turn yellow... Seems that would be the safest? Short yellow + timer?
