I was replying to Nexus974, "..but I don't credit the GOP with an over-abundance of brains."

Too many who vote republican have shit for brains. It's hard to convince these people of anything of real importance, let alone the intricacies of Keynsian monetary policy and the fed. But then, the GOP has shown that they don't really have to understand a position before supporting it (not the voters, not even the elected representatives).
