Evening track day at Brands Hatch 19th August 2009. I'm in my mk5 Ford Escort RS2000 and I had this green Fiesta on my tail for a couple of laps, so I thought i'd let him pass and see if I can keep up with him....

My car's spec is: 2.0L 16v engine on motorbike throttle bodies making 180bhp, coil over suspension, bigger brakes with uprated pads, R888 track tyres and the car has been fully stripped and rollcaged.

Green Fiesta's spec is: 2.0L 16v duratec engine on Titan rollerbearing throttle bodies making 180bhp, coilovers, stripped, caged and on road tyres

  • Hi Jeff

As usual nothing stands still in the car modding world, and OC have now turbo'd the green machine, but then again, my car has also developed :)

Would be nice to see your car out on track one day :)

  • So he has 2bhp more then me in a lighter car, well, I assume its lighter then mine?

He is faster out of most of the corners, I had to feather the throttl on some to avoid closing too much, but yes, I do have more top end, which on such a short circuit as Brands is not much use ;)

Now had he had some proper track day tyres and not the road ones he was on, then he would almost certainly have pulled away much more :)

  • would have thought it was a 1600 tbh, how do u know he has the faster car? looked like he pulled away in the bends then u caught him on the straight, that suggests u have more power.

  • I spoke with the driver afterwards, plus his car has since been featured in one of the Ford magazines. The Fez is powered by the new Ford Duratec all alloy 2.0L engine on Titan roller bearing throttle bodies and Omex ECU, making 180 BHP, which he has marked on his rear bumper btw!

  • i tell you what he propa owned you

  • He should have disappeared off into the distance and lapped me! He has a lighter car with the same power so I think I did well to keep up with him, unless you consider him just being in front as ownage? ;)

  • Its been at at Combe a few times and incar footage is on here

  • This year 2011 it will only be out on a track session once,RSCombe 2011,as its now being used for competition use, what I built it for, although a lack of funds means more build; work, rather than use if you follow that lol.As you know its been a no hurry just plod away MSA build.

All the best and keep posting the quality vids, nought like incar footage from your 5.

    Jeff

  • Just had my Rs2K remapped on just a single Mustang 66mm Throttle body that cost £85 and we are now on 181BHP ,we are running Dastek ECU,66mm t/b ported plenum,H/T exhaust manifold no cams and a modded Mongoose pipe.

Great video by the way ,enjoyed it and know the car.
