The necropsy was done mostly for the benefit of the Pre-Vet students at UF. The horse that we did the necropsy on was a campus-owned horse that had a fractured leg and was in a lot of pain and unable to be fixed through surgery. This was not a random horse that was just euthanized for class instruction purposes. The horse was euthanized that morning by the veterinarian who performed the necropsy.

  • Extremely interesting to watch on here, but if I saw this in person I'd be biting the arena dirt...passed out cold.

  • These"kids" are VERY IMMATURE! If I were the person (vet) performing the necropsy I would have told them to SHUT THE F*** up! The giggling is SO innapropriate

  • @philli1100 It isn't a jokeand those student know it. The thing is, when you go into this profession it gets dirty and nasty. You have to have some what of a sense of humor to do this job, As long as the body or the animal is being respected. We go into this profession because the love we have for animals. It's sad to see them in that way, but if you ever get the chance to actually do a necropsy you would be amazed of how cool they truelly are and how much you would learn.

  • @HFV331 Clearly you don't care to learn about the veterinary profession (case in point: there is no such condition as a "cleft hoof"). However, I will tell you that, from a veterinary perspective, euthanasia is always a last resort - and a merciful one. I would never claim to know all there is to know in the medical field. But if your language is any indication, I'd say I know a good bit more than you. And with that, I will leave you in your ignorance. It's been a pleasure.

  • @Sassamafras24 ok smart ass at the ASPCA if a horse has a cleft hoof they put it down because it's in to much "pain" to live so the euthanize it rather than spending money to have it medically brought back to health. so stick your fake knowledge up your ass.

  • he's full of shit ;D

  • though I love horses, i would love to see an autopsy of one, i'd be cool to see how things work and how :D
