@TheAgnwristos The over-simplification was in the comment that I first replied to. That was precisely my problem with it.
With what you are suggesting, it must ignore stray data. For example, I know a guy who only listens to gangster rap. He, being from a middle class environment, with a proper education, and majoring in philosophy will likely react very differently in a situation, opposed to the stereotypical listener of gangster-rap.
This is much more due to environment, rather than music.

@TheGlassDot You over-simplify.. I never said that you can judge by the bare fact that you listen Classical or Rap at a certain period..
If you listen to X,Y,Z songs of Classical or to T,G,F songs of rap does not prove your intelligence nor much about your character.. But professional profilers can easily detect possible behaviors and acknowledgements that you would make on certain situations based on a data of 2 months of what you listen to.

@TheAgnwristos It may have an effect, but it certainly is not black and white, "I listen to Classical, so I'm brilliant, and he listens to rap, so he's not."
Again, life isn't junior-high. Music does give *some* definition to *some* people. But this acting like it's the core motivator to the actions of people is just flat out naive.
It paints a pretty Disney-esque picture, where if we all just learn to love Glenn Miller, there would be no violence. Ha!

@TheGlassDot Nah.. The kind of music you hear has a direct correlation with your iq behavior etc etc..

@kozoveetch I'm not being cynical, I'm being realistic. thornie123 makes believe that the problems of the world stem from the music people listen to. This is naive, and ignores the real issues.
As I said to raspberriesandar, people aren't as easily defined as the music they listen to. I and many others listen to plenty of non-"uplifting" music, and it has never driven me to violence. If you'd like to sample, search for "Ehnahre - Part I".
Again, don't be naive.
-
@raspberriesandar Yes, you can look at the "rap culture" and say, "what an unhealthy way of life", but then you're ignoring the people outside of the "rap culture" who listen to rap and live healthy, charitable and loving lives.
Music doesn't define every single person in the world, like you might think when you're in junior-high. There are many more powerful things that will drive people to hate and violence than music. Try money and power.
Don't be so naive. You're ignoring the real issues.

@TheGlassDot stop being so mean and grouchy! there is nothing naive about the knowing the power of music in the world. Look at the rap culture for proof!

@thornie123 beautiful comment! totally agree that the ugly world we have now would be totally better if everyone listened to swing and had some old fashioned class , dignity and style! love you taste & comment -you are a special teenager.

@TheGlassDot Don't be so cynical. Uplifting music is more uplifting than downer music. Encourage the positive. Not only does it not hurt, it can help you fell better as well as the one you are encouraging.
If more people listened to this type music there would be less hate and crime in the world. Glenn Miller etc, its all wonderful. Instead of songs about hate and murder and drugs, this music was fun and you could have a good time listening to it. im only 17 years old and i LOVE this kind of music.
