This is the first of a series of clips that demonstrate using Room EQ Wizard to evaluate sonic treatment for my recording space.

Room EQ Wizard is a free program that measures audio impulse response and from that measurement calculates the frequency response of the playback system and room.

The ability to measure room response can help when adding room treatment for recording or playback.

Room EQ Wizard is available for download at www.hometheatershack.com where you can also find an active discussion forum of about the use of REW and about all aspects of home theater. The staff and visitors there are very knowledgeable and helpful.

For a more detailed discussion of Room EQ Wizard, room treatment, and other aspects of recording at home, please visit my blog at http://www.homebrewedmusic.com

  • When I make the loopback from my main output (left) to the input channel, what way should I set the input gain?

I'm very confused, it keeps giving me the message that i have -90dB of headroom that it needs to be at least -10db.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • @Krsnik87 I'm sorry, I'm away from my home studio and unable to experiment to see if I can help you. Have you asked around the Home Theater Shack. There are a number of people there who are very helpful.
