Launching a boat at Crowley Landing on the Mullica River. This used to be Crowleytown and the site of Samuel Crowley's glassworks (1851 - 1874). The world's first Mason jar was produced here in 1858. The Crowley glassworks stopped production in 1866 and the factory was razed in 1874. Samuel Crowley also owner had a glassworks at nearby Bulltown. During the summer of 1971, Budd Wilson performed a tidal excavation and found typical halloware: fruit jars, ink wells, porter bottles and panel bottles.
