Interview with Shabazz the Disciple (Part 1)

I did an interview with my cousin Shabazz the Disciple. Those of you who don't know who he is, Shabazz was on a song with the rap group Gravediggaz. The song is "Diary of a Madman" from the 1994 album 6 Feet Deep. Since then Shabazz has came out with two albums of his own, 2003's Book of Shabazz (Hidden Scrollz) which features "Red Hook Day", "Oasis" and "Crime Saga". 2006's The Passion of the Hood Christ features "Marion", "Prayfemy" and "The One". Shabazz has new material waiting to be released. I have some of his latest music and it is hot. If you are a Hip-Hop head like I am, then as soon as it hits the stores, get it. Some say hip-hop is dead. HIP-HOP IS NOT DEAD.

Yo, I'm searching through Red Hook stuff and ran into these Shabazz videos. He looks awfully like a David Collins I knew back in JHS 142. Yo David, still stuck in Red Hook!?! He was dead on about making timeless music. The old school artists were definitely ahead of their time when they made their music (Rakim, KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, etc.). Now we have all these wack artists who are only following a trend which will eventually die down.

I can't lie I slept on Shabazz, I remember hearing him on The Gravediggaz LP and a few other things but I slept on him. Then I heard some more recently and I'm not sleeping anymore.
