I just listened to that sermon...and that part is where Pastor John is quoting what he wrote in his journal in college, and how after that point he abandoned his views of human self-determination and autonomy.

Romans 9, in no way.. "devours" free-willers. Always remember, contextual reading is paramount :-)
If John 3:15-18 is true then, 1) Jesus died for ALL.. and 2) God gives us free-will. Gods gift for grace was offered to ALL.. and some will accept it... while most will not. Once we accept the gift, we have the gift and the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed onto us. We are eternally secure. If we desire to have what God wants for us.. joy, happiness, holiness.. we are to be obedient :-)

@ThePristineFaith Oh wow, I never noticed that before...thanks! It's like when I actually went beyond Romans 9 to chapter 11...:)
God Bless, and Grace to You.

this is funny, i like it
Deut.30 is like an Army of Powerful Angelic Beings bringing Gnostic-centered Determinists into submission & forcing them to accept repsonsibility for THEIR OWN CHOICES.

Ha ha, wow, this is weird....John's actually my pastor (just started going to his church). Don't know where I quite stand on the whole Arminian/ Calvinist debate, but Acts 17:30-31 has a lot to say...then again, so does the first chapter of Ephesians...

@StevieWonder501 thanks for the comments. On Eph 1, notice that at verse 13 the pronouns switch to "you", Paul's Gentile audience. For verses 3-12, Paul constantly employs "we" and "us", in other words, the Jews. The Jewish nation was chosen by God and predestined.
