There are three songs that Ms. Marion Williams led with the Ward Singers that put them over the top, Packing Up, Surely God Is Able and Climbing Higher. In fact the Ward Singers sold over a million copies from each one of these selections, led by Ms. Marion Williams. Very few gospel singers had her vocal range and power. She not only could hit a high note and sustain it like she did in Packing Up, but she could hit a high note and wreck a house as you will hear in this selection. This is the song that made her famous, even until her death. You can't help but to shout when she takes you even higher as she hollers, Surely. A tribute to Ms. Marion Williams was made by Ms. Aretha Franklin at The Kennedy Center when they honored her with the song, Surely God Is Able. Aretha Franklin also recorded Surely God Is Able and Packing Up on her second gospel LP several years ago. Which makes you wonder if Ms. Marion Williams influenced her as well.

It's music like this that sticks with you in the hardest and troubled times. You just don't know how many lives you've just helped with this song alone. Keep being a blessing to all of us...even if we all can't to church all the time. Bless you!

OMG...I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG SINCE 1968. I HEARD IT IN 63 @ AGE 5 SANG IT FOR MY DAD IN 67....HE LAUGHED.....HE WAS ON HIS 12TH THROAT SURGERY HE COULD NO LONGER SING. THAT WAS DEVASTATING COMING A MUSICAL BACKGROUND.....IN 68 @ AGE 9 1/2 I TORE THAT SONG UP...MY DAD HAD TEARS OF JOY IN HIS EYES....I STILL FEEL HIS HUG EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG....NEVER THOUGHT I'D HEAR IT AGAIN....THANK U SO MUCH PRINCEbb1...MUCH LUV!
