Dan Bern on guitar and vocals, with Mike Viola on piano, Paul Kuhn on cello-caster, and Kelly Jones on vocals at the Living Room in NYC. This was written for the upcoming Kasdan/Apatow movie, "Walk Hard."
What do you mean by, "write it better?" YOu mean, "perform it better", right? I agree, I think the version John C. Reilly sung for the film came out better, much clearer, etc. BUT you have to give credit where credits due - this is Dan's song. He wrote a good one. A lot of songs don't even become recognizable until other people sing them and I'm glad the movie brought Dan's work out in the forefront.
Fan of Dan's forever. Though, this song was based on Dewey's character from the movie, so it's hard to tell if it has any true meaning at all... and a lot of his own songs are very guine and heartfelt.
Does he have to blow his nose or does he just suck
