This lively tune is a rhapsody of sorts which I wrote a very long time ago. I had a mish-mash of various little snippets of music that I eventually managed to string together to form a tune which is why I call it a rhapsody. Then, I stuck the traditional and very well known bagpipe tune "Scotland the Brave" right smack in the middle of it. This happened very slowly over several years. Adding a motif here, omitting another there and putting them together in various ways at various tempos and keys. But, I kept Scotland the Brave in the middle throughout the whole process. It was so long ago that I don't remember what my reasoning was for keeping that bagpipe portion in but, I'm glad I did. I ended up building the rest of the tune around that bagpipe section and I think that's what helped the tune to coalesce into a coherent piece of music. My friends always called it the Bagpipe Thing, as in..."Hey Fred, play that Bagpipe Thing!". It was a natural title that fit perfectly so, I went with it. I 'Texaned' it up a little by changing the word "thing" to "thang" which is why it is entitled "Bagpipe Thang" (Yee-Hah!!!).
This version has me playing along with a midi version of the tune. I hope you enjoy the music and as always, I welcome your feedback. Please feel free to rate, comment and share with your friends and thanks for listening.
