Basically the actually meaning of the original is that Lupe is explaining that the music industry doesnt require any actual talent, which is why he needs to "Dumb it down" in order to make more money. The white guy in the video is his consciousness trying to tell him that his unique vocabulary and word usage is effecting his listeners in a positive way and that he needs to keep it up. The world just isn't ready for all of Lupe's potential..

I logged on just to comment. on the songs meaning (which the comment with 12 thumbs up guy has wrong)

Song is about hip hop content being simplified to entertain and numb the masses who listen to it. what you put in is what you put out. thus creating a dumb culture of people who listen to hip hop. Lupe is recognizing this push of the industry to take the substance out of rap and is letting them know he wont dumb it down. The white guy is the industry wagging a finger at lupe for his lyrics.
