Very nice! But after hearing the second part, I now want to play Tales of Phantasia again... >.>

LOL I first thought the pic had to do with the game you had in mind! Let me tell you, it could work if it was that way.
-
Not world mappy..but it would work in a action rpg like say... Govelleus. By the way, what do you use to make the snes style music? o.o

This really sounds like something that Yuzo Koshiro would do. Also the 8-bit version, sounds like Legacy of the Wizard and Ys (famicom).

awesome song. I think I might try making original songs too.
-
sounds like something you would hear in a fire emblem game, on nes of course.

Oh man, this is fantastic! I feel like I'm actually playing an old 8-bit RPG when I listen to this! Perhaps you could make more original themes like this? Maybe a town or battle theme... or both!

To be honest I think this sounds more like a song to a dark stage. Overworld theme usually have a slower tempo. A song like this would give you a feeling like you're walking really slow.

@Nuudoru7 I used Tales of Phantasia's map song as a reference, but this doesn't sound very 'map'-y anyway. Thanks for the comment c:
