@nittynorns Because there wasn't enough room to just use the ground. The water helps slow the plane. And it's pretty fun too!

i think he got it ritgh, he just missed by 3 feet
-
@cklskypilot No, because he's modulating the throttle. He keeps skiing until it's shallow enough to chop the throttle and drop it in for additional braking.
-
My only question is: Why?

THat's also known as the Alaskan drive threw car wash ;)
Hi Loni, I'm an RC pilot in Whitehorse,Yukon.
Great vids :)

@AKPride00 man im looking at my post and i never said ALL bush pilots get taught this! nvm anyway. you knew about the hitting the brakes, which is something only a pilot or an enthusiast would know. truce?
-
@wristp1n Firstly I am not saying they are guessing, I have never been taught how yet I still know they steps. Second you said and I quote "Its taught to bush pilots". So in essence you are contradicting your self.
And for the record the steps are:
1. 10 degrees of flaps
2. shallow aproach above stall speed
3. lock brakes
4. light shallow semi-powered touch-down
5.keep brakes locked and adjust power pitch and rudder acordingly

@AKPride00 stfu! are you telling me they're guessing when they try that for the first time? give me a break! and if the only way to get into someplace is to skip on the water before hitting ground then they HAVE to do it! and i never said it was taught to all bush pilots!

Buy a plane and fly it however you would like to. Put others in it and play by the rules of common sence, nature and gravity. Nice short field landing.
if he would have been out another 20 feet this would have a new title THE PLANE THAT ALMOST MADE IT SHORE
