This video was taken on 6th August 2010 at our Bharatnagar TB center. In most TB cases the lungs get affected, but TB can affect other parts of the body also. Lymph nodes in the neck are common places for TB to manifest. Nodes in the axilla, inguinal regions and within the chest and abdominal cavities also do get affected. Material taken by FNAC [Fine needle aspiration cytology] is tested for confirmation of TB disease. DOTS cures TB of the glands and anywhere else in the body in its own unparalleled manner. During the course of treatment, the response of the glands to the drugs is totally unpredictable...they may increase in size, remain unchanged in size or else totally shrink off. A person receiving DOTS for such glands is advised not to be overly concerned about the size of the glands and that is not the basis for being healed of his/her disease. Should the glands swell up and show signs of bursting, the attending doctor could opt for aspiration of the abscess. In most of the cases, the glands are best left alone until the DOTS treatment is over. For cosmetic reasons, the glands could be removed after the entire course of DOTS has been taken.
