Red Arrows must be checked all the time before launch. The past Red Arrows had the same to crash and burn, even this year 2011 Red Arrow 4 was the first crash this year. Wish that the pilot survived that crash because many pilots survived high speed crashes since WWII.

@captfilk You really have no idea do you? he sacrificed himself to avoid hitting houses you half witted idiot.
-
@stjimmy95 Unfortunately what happend was the ejection gear malfunctioned so he had to try a manual jump, I am sorry for all his family and freinds of him

My thoughts are with Jon's family. He flew for his country in a manner without regard for his own safety. He demonstrated, as a professional pilot that he could perform at the highest level in the world of aerobatics in the most perfect and competant team of pilots ever.
Whatever the reason for his death, we shall not forget;I will not forget. A hero, again not to come home. RIP Sir!

RIP Eggman. Bird strike to engine intake>
The 3.5 seconds he had he chose to avoid a built up aria and save lives to his own.
All my love and respect to his nearest,

@captfilk The Red Arrows aren't just a bunch of performers, they're the best pilots in the world, he would NOT make a simple mistake like accidently crashing into a field, watch the crash video and see his plane slowly plummet towards the ground, he had a good 5-6 seconds to pull up if he was able to, which he obviously wasn't.
Please think before you speak.

Jon egging flew Harrier jump jets in Afghanistan, I VERY much doubt that this was pilot error; ONLY the best of the best fly harriers. The same goes for red arrows.

@SuzLa1 yea..because he did try to eject but it was too late as he spent what time he had steering away from peoples' homes

@Barfoot99 ministry of defence is still investigating the cause of the crash, and you have already made hi an hero here...it seems like a case of misjudgement of altitude by the pilot...
stop calling him an hero...

Very sad day. My heart goes out to the pilot's family.
Jon 'The Eggman' Egging, died in an brave attempt to divert his troubled plane from local houses. This act of selflessness unfortunately meant he didn't have enough altitude when ejecting from the plane, meaning when he landed he was still travelling with huge speed. Such a hero, did not deserve to die, RIP Eggman <3 xx
